CIRO VERDI - EXECUTIVE CHEF/OWNER
Hailing out of Astoria, Queens, Executive Chef and Owner, Ciro Verdi, was lured into the culinary world at a very young age. He spent his summers abroad in Portici, Naples, Italy as a young boy where he learned the fine art of cooking in a wood-burning oven. Mastering this art by the age of nineteen, Verdi decided to pursue his passion for culinary inovation in Manhattan. It wasn't long after this decision that Verdi established a name and place for himself among some of the most recognized and well respected chefs in New York City. In May of 1989, Verdi created his signature dish, the Focaccia Robiola and the Focaccia Robiola Deluxe which changed the face of pizza as we know it today. Shortly after this creation, Verdi opened Da Ciro Ristornate which was located on Lexington Avenue between 33rd and 34th in Manhattan. Him and his Focaccia Robiola gained considerable recognition by the Food Netwok and they both became a staple for Murray Hill residents and the average New Yorker. After almost a twenty-one (21) year run in Manhattan with Da Ciro Ristorante, Verdi is ecstatic to now be a part of the Clinton Hill neighborhood.
